70년대 뉴저먼시네마의 심장이라 불리는 라이너 베르너 파스빈더(Rainer Verner Fassbinder)의 영화적 동지로 성장한 마이클 볼하우스는 영화의 흐름을 섬세하게 읽어내며 따라가는 특유의 역동적인 촬영 기법으로 영화에 생명력을 불어 넣으며 자신의 입지를 굳혀 나갔습니다. 그리고 1980년 이후, 마틴 스콜세지(Martin Scorsese)감독과 조우하며 수 많은 명작을 남겼습니다.
